Supported by the German Government , the PAGEL project, a collaboration between Potsdam University (PU), Germany, University of Health Sciences (UHS), Lao PDR, Khon Kaen University (KKU), Thailand and Thai Nguyen University of Medicine and Pharmacy (TUMP), Vietnam aims to increase academic capacity and improve knowledge on nutrition and related aspects among the Greater Mekong Sub-regional countries. From 26 to 30 September, 2016, Thai Nguyen University of Medicine and Pharmacy hosted the international workshop on Nutrition in Emergencies. From 3 to 7 October, 2016, TUMP staff and lecturers participated in the workshop on Overnutrition and NCD's at the University of Health Sciences, Lao PDR; followed by the workshop on Anemia, which took place from 10 to 14 October, 2016, at Khon Kaen University, Thailand. The participants obtained further theoretical background and were introduced to new lab methods. All 3 workshops were conducted successfully and greatly contributed to strengthening academic capacity in Nutrition as well as re-establishing the network between south-to-south and north-to-north countries.
