Breastfeeding is recognized as an important public health issue with enormous social and economic implications. Chidren under 6 months who do not receive breast milk are likely to experience poorer health outcomes than breastfed infants; mothers who do not breastfeed increase their own health risks. Objectives is to study the knowledge, practices regarding breastfeeding (BF) among mother had chidlren under 24 months in Thai Nguyen General Hospital. A cross-sectional study was conducted on 220 mothers have children under 24 months from June 2021 to June 2022 using a structured questionnaire. Data were collected by face-to-face interview in Ward Pediatric center of Thai Nguyen General Hospital, following simple random sampling process from hospital register list. 59.5% mother had knowledged regarding initiation of exclusive breast feeding (EBF) for 6 months. However, 50.9% mother had practices of EBF within 1 hour. 58.6% of mothers understand that exclusive breastfeeding is required for the first 6 months, but only 30.9% of mothers had exclusivelied breastfeed for the first 6 months. Rate of knowledges, practices of initiation of BF within 1 hour and giving EBF children under 24 months were average which are needed to improve for promoting exclusive breastfeeding practices and reducing infant mortality and morbidity
