EFFECT OF HBV DNA LOAD ON BIRTH METHOD IN HBV-INFECTED PREGNANT WOMEN
Overview
Abstract:
Hepatitis B is a worldwide disease, placing a significant burden on
healthcare systems. The majority of people carrying hepatitis B virus
in Vietnam are transmitted from mother to child. Whether the delivery
method of HBV-infected women affects the transmission of the virus
to the baby is a very important issue. Because it will help obstetricians
choose the appropriate method to end pregnancy to minimize the risk
of adverse effects for mother and child. With the goal of
understanding the impact of HBV DNA load on the method of
delivery and the risk of transmitting the virus to the baby of HBVinfected
pregnant women, we conducted research on 80 research
subjects. Using the cross-sectional descriptive method, we have
obtained the following results: HBV DNA load is not related to the
method of delivery (cesarean section or vaginal birth); HBV DNA
load of maternal blood is closely related to HBsAg (+) status in
umbilical cord blood.
