Overview

Abstract:

This study was designed to evaluate the effect of some excipients and dispensing techniques on dissolution rate of meloxicam tablets in environment pH 6.8. The meloxicam tablets were prepared by wet granulation method. Prepared tablets were evaluated for different quality criteria such as hardness, abrasion and solubility. The different samples release the drug  at intervals ranging from 5 to 30 minutes. The results showed that the formulation with 6% natri croscarmelose and 1,4% Tween 80 had the fastest excipient release rate (83.87% within 15 min). The combination of meloxicam in the excipient solution also results in faster release of the drug.
