Overview

Abstract:

The management of zinc (Zn) pollution in soil and its environmental impact is a critical concern 14 that requires a comprehensive approach. This article presents a synthesis of research on assessing 15 and managing Zn pollution, encompassing environmental regulation, pollution control 16 technologies, land use management, and research and development efforts. The potential 17 ecological risk of heavy metal pollution, including Zn, is evaluated using various assessment 18 methods. Phytoremediation, soil washing, and agricultural practices are proposed as effective 19 strategies for reducing Zn pollution and protecting land and the environment. The impact of Zn 20 pollution on soil microbial communities, ecological risk assessment, and the potential for 21 physiological integration to alleviate heavy metal stress are also discussed. The article 22 emphasises the importance of interdisciplinary approaches to environmental remediation and the 23 need for sustainable management practices to mitigate the impact of Zn pollution on ecosystems. 24 The expected outcome of this work is the development of more effective and sustainable Zn 25 pollution management strategies, ultimately reducing ecological risks and enhancing soil health Journal Pre-proof 26 for long-term environmental protection. The utility of this study lies in its comprehensive 27 evaluation of Zn pollution management strategies, highlighting both existing and emerging 28 solutions to mitigate its adverse environmental effects. 29 Keywords: Advanced ecological risk management; High-impact phytoremediation techniques; 30 Innovative ecosystem restoration; Soil management; Zinc contamination solutions
