EVALUATING THE ADAPTATION OF CUTTINGS OF ROSA LAEVIGATA MICHX. WITH CLIMATE AND LAND IN THAI NGUYEN
Overview
Abstract:
Kim anh (Rosa laevigata Michx.) is a basic tree that grows wild in southern
China, after that they migrated to some provinces in Vietnam and Laos.
Currently, in Vietnam the natural area of Rosa laevigata Michx is only
found in some districts of Cao Bang and Lang Son provinces, the border area
with China. In 2017, with the desire to plant Rosa laevigata Michx in Thai
Nguyen area in the future, cutting of Rosa laevigata Michx has been
successful with branches picked from native Rosa laevigata Michx (in Trung
Khanh district - Cao Bang province). However, it is necessary to continue to
evaluate if Rosa laevigata Michx will be able to well adapt to the weather,
climate as well as the soil in Thai Nguyen province. Therefore, this research
is conducted in order to determine the growth and development; flowering;
and the fructification of the tree. By experimental method in the field, the
following results were gained: Rosa laevigata Michx treesfrom cutting grow
and develop very well: strong, long with big tree-trunks. The trees are free
from pests and diseases, and have the good ability to grow new leaf buds.
However, Rosa laevigata Michx trees from cuttings planted at Thai Nguyen
are not capable of flowering and fructifying, like the ones planted in Trung
Khanh - Cao Bang. The cause of this phenomenon was initially determined
to be the climate (temperature) the time of flowering in Thai Nguyen that
was not appropriate with the flowering of Rosa laevigata Michx.
