Knowledge, attitudes, and practices regarding hepatitis B prevention among residents of Uc Ky commune, Phu Binh district, Thai Nguyen province
Overview
Abstract:
A cross-sectional study was conducted in Uc Ky commune, Phu Binh district, Thai Nguyen province, Vietnam in 2025 to assess knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAP) related to hepatitis B prevention and identify associated factors. The study involved 360 residents aged 18 years and older, conducted from January to May 2025. The results showed that the proportions of participants with good overall knowledge, attitudes, and practices were 21.4%, 67.8%, and 28.3%, respectively. Significant associations were found between knowledge and preventive practices (p < 0.05), and between attitudes and practices (p < 0.05). The findings indicated that while a majority of participants demonstrated positive attitudes, their knowledge and preventive practices remained limited. Only 6.7% of participants had adequate knowledge about hepatitis B vaccination, and just 20.3% were aware of the signs of the disease. Therefore, it is neces- sary to strengthen communication and education programs to raise public awareness, particularly about recognizing symptoms and the importance of completing the full hepatitis B vaccination schedule.
