Purpose: To assess the outcome of neoadjuvant chemotherapy on inoperable stage III breast cancer patients. Study method: cross-sectional study design was conducted on 34 inoperable stage III breast cancer patients treated with neoadjuvant chemotherapy at Oncology Center of Thai Nguyen National Hospital from 01/01/2017 to 31/12/2020. Retrospective study was carried out to access the clinical and pathological characteristics of patients as well as the treatment response rate, the rate of changing into operable disease and toxicities. Results: the overall clinical response rate was 67,7%, complete response rate: 11,8%; partial response rate: 55,9%; overall pathological response rate: 16,6%; partial pathological response rate: 79,2%; rate of changing into operable disease was 70,6%, of which 95,8% patients received radical surgery. The toxicities were almost at low grades (1,2). Conclusion: neoadjuvant chemotherapy has the effect on downstaging and changing into inoperable stage on inoperable stage III breast cancer patients. The chemotherapy regiments were tolerable with the low grade of toxicities.
