,Overview
Abstract:
Objective: This study aimed to assess the quality of life among
breast cancer patients following total mastectomy with immediate implant-based
breast reconstruction. Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional
descriptive study was conducted involving 52 breast cancer patients who
underwent radical mastectomy followed by immediate implant-based reconstruction
at K Hospital between January 2023 and December 2024. Quality of life was
evaluated using the EORTC QLQ-C30 and QLQ-BR23 questionnaires, while
satisfaction with reconstructed breasts was measured using the Breast-Q scale. Results:
The mean age of participants was 43.9 ± 7.3 years, with an average
implant volume of 215.4 ± 47.1 mL. According to the
QLQ-C30, the mean global health status score was 71.5 ± 13.9, and the mean
functional scale score was 89.7 ± 10.4. Pain and insomnia
were the most frequently reported symptoms. Based on the QLQ-BR23, the mean
score for functional domains was 48.1 ± 13.2, while the symptom domain score
averaged 10.7 ± 9.1. The mean satisfaction score with breast
reconstruction, as measured by the Breast-Q, was 60.2. Conclusion: Patients
with breast cancer who underwent immediate implant-based reconstruction
generally reported a good quality of life and satisfaction with surgical
outcomes. However, certain impacts on sexual functioning and treatment-related
symptoms remained.
