The objective of study was to apply quality by design approach to screen critical exicipients for

formulation of drug-in-adhesive matrix system containing lornoxicam. Based on ANOVA analysis of

experimental results using the software (MODDE 12.0), the effect of input variables (ratio of

triethanolamine, Cremophor RH 40, Al(OH)3, Transcutol, and kinds of acidic agent (citric and tartaric

acid) on the ouput variables (solubility and flux of drug, adhesive ability and surface pH of system)

was investigated. The obtained results of this study have potential for optimization of an analgesic

patch containing lornoxicam in further studies.
