THE CURRENT STATUS OF PSYCHOLOGICAL STRESS AND ASSOCIATED FACTORS DURING CLINICAL PRACTICUM AMONG FULL-TIME BACHELOR OF NURSING STUDENTS – THAI NGUYEN UNIVERSITY OF MEDICINE AND PHARMACY IN 2024

Abstract:
Background: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted
to assess the level of psychological stress and to analyze the factors
influencing this psychological state during the clinical practicum - a critical
period for the professional and personal development of nursing students. Objective: Describe the level of
psychological stress and to analyze the factors influencing clincal stressor of
nursing bachelor students. Subjects: Third- and fourth-year full-time
nursing students of Thai Nguyen University of Medicine
and Pharmacy. Methods: Cross-sectional descriptive
design. Results: The highest proportion (64.5%)
of full-time nursing students experienced a moderate level of psychological
stress. The average psychological stress score among these students was
moderate (82.14 ± 17.67). Factors significantly associated with psychological stress included
gender, academic year, professional passion, academic performance, residence,
financial support, expenditure level, physical exercise, recreational activities,
and clinical practicum environment (p< 0.05). Conclusions: Full-time nursing students
have mainly moderate levels of psychological stress, related to many personal
and environmental factors, suggesting a need to improve safe and supportive
learning and practice environments. The study recommends enhancing a safe,
supportive, and friendly clinical practicum environment for nursing students.
