Description of the program

The training program for Master of Internal Medicine helps learners, after graduating, to have a scientific methodology and the ability to practice proficiently in diagnosis, management, prognosis and prevention of common medical diseases, and to perform common internal medicine procedures. This program also teaches post-graduate students how to practice and to guide colleagues in professional practice and scientific research.

Ten to 15 students are enrolled each year. Students are admitted to the program through the university’s entrance examination process. The program is taught in Vietnamese.

The training program for master of internal medicine includes 45 credits in 03 groups. The modules of the general subject group are: scientific research methods and applied informatics. In the modules of basic medicine, students can choose four from the seven basic medicine modules offered: clinical pharmacy, oncology, diagnostic imaging, infectious disease, microbiology, epidemiology, and biochemistry. The group of specialized modules includes four compulsory modules: cardiology, respiratory and digestive tract diseases, rheumatology. Immediately after completing the scientific research and applied informatics module, learners are asked to choose the thesis topic and outline, and are assigned supervisors. The teaching staff includes: Professors, Associate Professors, and Doctors assigned by the faculties or departments in accordance with the topics. In the specialized module, learners can acquire theory in parallel with practice in the clinical departments of the practical hospitals. Learners can directly participate in medical examination, treatment, and procedures together with clinical teachers, and discuss cases with them. Each learner is assessed through clinical tests, knowledge tests using MCQ questionnaires, and thematic overview reports. At the same time, learners must complete the collection of their data, finding references, data processing, and essay writing on schedule.

Employment after completing the program

After graduation, learners can work at government agencies for health, medical universities, colleges, medical schools, and in departments of internal medicine in hospitals at central, provincial and district level.
